Designers choose between colors, textures, and styles as a way to reflect their thoughts and share a message. 

Fashion month allows people to view exquisite pieces of art and the trends are shown by several outstanding designers while choosing the fashions best suited for their wardrobe. Here are some of the main trends from both London and New York fashion week that have caught the community’s eye.

Playing with New Textures

Many fascinating looks incorporated new varieties of textures. These textures add a remarkable finishing touch to these outfits allowing them their creative spotlight. From beads and ruffles to dyed fringes and spikes. Designers like Poster Girl, Halpern, and Chet Lo have made some of their clothing with such details.

Bright Colors

In London, a fiery red made its way onto the runway in some of this season’s boldest works. Similarly in New York, monochrome suits are becoming increasingly popular, especially in bright colors like blue, orange, and yellow. Glam

Glam has returned to the scene as models walked with a multitude of shimmers and sparkles. Crystals from PatBo and many others were showcased. Feathers were added to the silhouettes of many dresses and sequins were sewn into beautiful fabrics. One sequined style by Altuzarra was worn by famous model Gigi Hadid. Another stand-out was the use of sheer fabrics. These pieces from Kim Shui are great for layering and their unique colors are sure to make new looks pop.

Long Garments

This season is filled with maxi shirts, ball gowns, and trench coats. “The midi skirt was officially declared irrelevant when Altuzarra sent floor-sweeping maxis down the runway” Marcus adds. Molly Goddard and Simone Rocha are maximalist designers who fashioned full skirts with coats and sweaters. This fits well with another trend seen in London, evening gloves.
