International Education Week took place last week on November 13-17th. The week is a result of joint action between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. During this week, several Brookfield East clubs and students came together to celebrate this week through educational posters, bake sales, book displays, and more.
Mrs. Hill, the Culture Club Advisor says that International Education Week, “Celebrates cultural exchange and diversity nationwide and within our school building. It is a great opportunity for students and staff to promote their cultures and interact with each other through various activities like the cultural display, food sales, and trivia announcements.”
“The food was the best part,” says Mariha (10), a Culture Club and Muslim Student Association member. “My favorite food item was the Brazilian Brigadeiro!”
Stephanie (12), the Publicity Officer for Culture Club, says that International Education Week is important for her. “International Education Week helps create connections between students, but on a deeper level that goes beyond our academic life, which is something I value a lot.”
