We’ve all seen those videos on things celebrities can’t live without. Well, data was collected and numbers were crunched, to give you an article on things teachers here at East can’t live without.
Let’s start with Mr. Saxton, there are two things Mr. Saxton can’t live without: his airmaxes and coffee. Not to mention the one thing Mr. Saxton brings with him everywhere, his signature red backpack. Its contents include a variety of things like multiple types of chargers, Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, water bottle, tire pressure gauge, expo markers, 0.5 pens (which he pointed out could be used as a weapon), Apple Beats, Extra gum, heart meds, and of course a computer, all the typical necessities of course. When asked about his essentials for getting ready in the morning, he said “comb” and then chuckled. The snacks he can’t live without include classics like Cheez-Its and barbeque chips.
Next Mrs. Doepke, who teaches choir here at Brookfield East, brings her phone, a journal, and a pair of athletic shoes wherever she goes. Three things she can’t live without are her bible, coffee (a popular answer among teachers), and a hoodie. Her favorite snacks are Buffalo pretzel bites and Mountain Dew. Her essentials for getting ready are a toothbrush, hair brush, and lip balm.
Right off the bat, Mr. Harder professed his love for his SmartBoard, in which he has all of his everything set up in. He also mentioned that ever since Covid, he’s only worn blue jeans (except to a funeral). He brings with him practical things such as his phone and wallet. His self proclaimed “beauty routine” is a hot shower and then he’s good to go. His go-to snacks are popcorn and diet pepsi.
Calculus teacher Mr. Carini can’t live without coffee, his wife, and math. He brings his phone, wallet, and keys with him everywhere. He has a very organized routine in the morning which begins with brewing coffee, starting his wife’s car, and then various mental exercises such as the Wordle, Connections, Cinematrix, AARP Crossword, and the Washington Post Crossword. He stressed that these must be completed in that exact order, as well as having his coffee in one hand and his cat in his lap, all while watching the morning news. He also professed that he has an “unhealthy addiction” to Nutella and animal crackers.
Mr. Tyree’s three things are joggers for when the school day ends, as well as skis and camping gear. Three things he brings everywhere are his wallet, phone, and car keys. He must have a fresh shower every morning, brush his teeth, and say goodbye to his cat. For favorite snacks, Mr. Tyree enjoys green grapes as well as chips and salsa.
Finally, the things that Mr. Morelli can’t live without are sweatpants, black t-shirts, and specifically Eclipse Spearmint gum. He always has his wallet, phone, and Eclipse Spearmint gum on his person. His essentials for the day consist of water, coffee, eggs for breakfast, and (surprise!) Eclipse Spearmint gum. He has several favorite snacks including Rx Bars, sardines, pepper jack cheese sticks, and Miss Vickie’s jalapeno chips.
To conclude, it seems that teachers’ essentials ranged from standard things, such as their wallets, phones, and coffee to some pretty specific necessities.
