We all know Homecoming, Prom, and Senior Ball. But what is the Cupid’s Cha Cha Dance? This winter formal dance is hosted by the sophomore class officers, Jake Zheng, Ian Rortvedt, Emre Evran, and Trevor Newman. Join us in the field house on February 10th, where hearts dance and laughter echoes, under the lights for the Cupid’s Cha Cha. The tickets are $15 and can be found on GoFan, in a past email from Mr.Westphal, or on the class of 26 Instagram (@behsclassof26). All the money from the dance goes towards funding events for the class of 2026, which is mainly prom.
When picking out a theme, Miss Allen says “Class officers send out Instagram poles to see what students are interested in”. Based on the poles, the theme is Pink and Red which goes with Valentine’s Day, four days after the dance. The dance is similar to homecoming in many ways including attire. They will also have a DJ, decorations, and a theme that is picked by the student body. The dance is hopefully expected to attract between 200-400 students. The class officers, Miss Allen, student council volunteers, and some school administration will help set up and take down decorations.
Advisor, Miss Allen prepares for the dance by “communicating with the administration to make sure we have the fieldhouse secured on the desired date for the dance”. She’s “also in charge of all of the finances. For any fundraising that the class officers do for the dance, I have to deposit the money into our account so we can use it to pay for the DJ, decorations, and any other miscellaneous items for the dance! In addition, I have to purchase all decorations for the dance and get them delivered to the school”.
Although this event is called a dance, Sophomore class president Jake Zheng emphasizes that it “is not just a dance; it’s a cherished tradition that brings students together for a night of unforgettable memories. It is one of the most anticipated events of the year”.
