Everything You Need To Know For Superbowl LVIII

The day has finally arrived. The Super Bowl. This year, it is anticipated by football fans and Swifties alike. This is, in fact, not the first time the Chiefs and 49ers will battle for the Super Bowl title. Back in 2020, former 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo and Patrick Mahomes faced off, however, this year, it will be Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes.

Brock Purdy was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, landing him the position of 3rd-string quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and making him 2022’s Mr. Irrelevant. However after both Lance and Garoppolo, the 49ers first two quarterbacks, suffered injuries, Purdy got his chance and proved himself to be a very valuable quarterback. Purdy has been the 49ers starting quarterback ever since.

Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, was picked 10th in the 2017 NFL draft and has led his team to victory in both the 54th (2020) and 57th (2023) Super Bowls. He has taken home two League MVP titles and two Super Bowl MVPs titles.

A new layer was added to the Superbowl this year, when Taylor Swift and Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce announced their romance to the world. On September 24, 2023, Swift was spotted in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium cheering him on in his game against the Chicago Bears. Taylor Swift fans were thrilled by this news and as a result, many have started watching football. Since the relationship went public, the NFL star has seen a shocking 400% increase in his jersey sales.

Swifties have been quick to notice some uncanny coincidences surrounding this year’s big time matchup. Taylor Swift’s lucky number, 13, has been popping up everywhere. This is the 58th Superbowl, 5+8=13, the Chiefs are playing the 49ers, 4+9=13, Brock Purdy’s number is 13, and Swift will have to fly from a concert in Tokyo to the Superbowl in Las Vegas, a trip that will take around 13 hours. Now, this could just be pure chance, pushed into the spotlight by crazed fans, but that’s up to our readers to decide.
